Prints and settlement

A Window settles on two signed numbers, its opening print and its closing print. Who records them, who settles, and what a void pays.

Checked 2026-10-13 · app 11d85e0

The live line on screen never settles anything. A Window settles on its opening print and its closing print: RedStone signed data packages, checked on chain.

Signed prints

Mitoshi's price relay fetches RedStone's packages for each Window's open and close and posts them to the engine. The engine's RedStonePrintVerifier recovers the signers itself and records a print only with at least three of RedStone's five production signers, close enough to the Window's boundary. Anyone may post a package; only the verifier decides whether it counts. Each position's details link to the proof of its prints.

Settlement

Anyone settles

Once both prints are in, anyone can call settle. Mitoshi's settler does it shortly after the close.

The rule

Close ≥ open pays UP; close < open pays DOWN. A winning contract pays $1.00, a losing one nothing. There is no settlement fee.

Void

If a print is missing when its admission deadline passes, anyone can void the Window and both sides are returned at half — $0.50 a contract. Where a Window's policy names a check source (the stocks' Gap on mainnet), a print that diverges from it by more than 0.25 % voids it too. There is no admin void.

The settler then pays every winning position on its own, a few minutes after the close. Collecting it yourself only hurries it. Positions in a Trading Balance are paid into it.

A payout your account's receive policy blocks is not lost: it waits as credit you can collect once the engine is allowed.

Today on testnet

  • The ops settler has settled, voided and paid thousands of Windows; its live counts are on Status.
  • RedStone is switching its public gateways off, in daily windows that grow until 29 October 2026. While one refuses, prints wait, so Windows don't open or settle until it answers again; a Window that gets no reliable print in time is void at half. Mitoshi moves to RedStone's authenticated gateway when its key is issued (an owner action).
